The Kamuela Philharmonic’s A Hawai‘i Homecoming celebrates the concert return of Anthony Arnone, acclaimed cellist, to Hawai‘i. Known throughout the islands, Mr. Arnone will perform one of Antonín Dvorák’s most famous works of music, Cello Concerto in B minor. This work is one of three pieces Dvorák composed in the United States – Cello Concerto, American Suite, and Symphony No. 9 from the New World.
Showcasing the fantastic talents of Mr. Arnone is not the only highlight of this performance. Many of the talented musicians of the Philharmonic will be featured in Béla Bartók’s Rumanian Folk Dances. A compilation of folk tunes Bartók discovered through various gypsy encampments throughout Eastern Europe are presented in masterful form.
The only way to complete this magnificent opening concert is with an iconic and virtuosic symphony by the master himself, Ludwig van Beethoven. The Philharmonic will bring the power and technical prowess of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major to life as an unforgettable conclusion to this performance.
