2019-20 Season Schedule
Presenting three fantastic MasterWorks performances!
The broadest spectrum of the symphonic repertoire will be on tap for the 2019-20 Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra’s concert season. The Kahilu theatre will be the home of some of the most anticipated symphonic works performed by the Orchestra to date. The most famous of piano concertos, the most iconic Russian concert suite, and some of the most famous literary works are but a taste of what will be brought to life by the musicians and maestro of the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra.
Sunday, October 7, 2019, 2 PM
In the season opener the multi-award winning and critically acclaimed pianist Thomas Yee of Honolulu joins the Orchestra on the Kahilu Theatre Steinway for an unforgettable journey through one of the most iconic piano concerto’s of all time—Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. The program also includes the bold and magnificent Sibelius Symphony No. 2.

The winter concert showcases the winners of KPO’s 9th annual Madeline Schatz-Harris Youth Concerto Competition, highlighting three of Hawai‘i’s incredibly talented young string musicians. This concert is always a season highlight and one not to miss. The program also includes Beethoven’s Overture to Fidelio, and Tchaikovsky’s First Symphony.
Sunday, March 22, 2020, 2 PM
In the season finale, the KPO brings literature to life with symphonic works inspired by literary greats; combining contemporary compositions with movie music, and folklore with Shakespeare. Think The Firebird, Romeo and Juliet, The Lord of the Rings, and more!

About Kahilu Theatre
The Kahilu Theatre is located in the green rolling hills of Waimea (aka Kamuela), at 2700 ft elevation in the South Kohala district of Hawai`i Island. The theatre was founded in 1980 by Richard Smart—heir to the Parker Ranch and accomplished Broadway actor—and has a 484-seat concert hall, a Black Box performance venue, as well as two gallery spaces.
