George Winchell is the senior member of the KPO Board. He has served for over eight years, more than half as Treasurer. He has a B.A. in Russian and Soviet Political Science, an M.A. in Curriculum Development, an Ed.S. in Educational Administration, and an A.B.D. in Distance Learning and Change Theory.
Mr. Winchell, an educator for forty-four years before retiring in 2013, has taught every grade K-12, and at the university level. He was a curriculum developer and an award-winning technology educator, recognized in Who’s Who in American Education. As a grant writer he brings millions of dollars each year to schools and libraries. In addition, he was an ASQ Koalaty Kid trainer and is a nationally certified Strategic Planning Facilitator/Consultant.
Mr. Winchell lives in Waikoloa. He keeps himself busy with the KPO Board, his church, and grant writing. An ongoing project, supported in part by a grant to KPO by the Bank of Hawaii Monte Richards program, is the preparation of music education curriculum materials for use in Hawaii public schools.
