Joanne moved to Hawai‘i Island in 2012 with her husband David and began playing in the Kamuela Philharmonic, the Chamber Orchestra of Kona, and singing in the Kona Choral Society.
She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has a BM degree in music with training in violin, piano, and voice and has extensive experience in public school teaching in several states and overseas.
In mid-life she transitioned to the corporate world where she worked as a computer teacher, course developer, and manager of Technical, and System & Sales Engineer Training for a fortune 500 company. During this time, she continued to play violin in the Marin County Orchestra, Symphony of the Mountain, California Symphony, Diablo Symphony, and sing in the Blackhawk Chorus, as well as work as a personnel manager for the local symphony and help them with organization and marketing.
She joined the board of the Kamuela Philharmonic in 2014 and served as Vice President from 2015–2016. In 2015–2016 she headed the Artistic Committee, and in 2016 until present, and was the chair and organizer for KPO fundraising events. In 2017 she was elected string representative for the Players Committee.
In her spare time, she and her husband enjoy travel, scuba diving, family and friends.
