Lori Rosenbauer Huff recently retired after 31 years as a full-time faculty member of the Music Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. During her tenure at the University, she offered instruction in saxophone performance, music education, music technology, woodwind fundamentals and directed the Cal Poly MIDI Ensemble, Saxophone Choir and Saxophone Quartet.
Dr. Huff holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from California State Polytechnic University Pomona, a Masters in Musicology from California State University, Los Angeles and Doctorate in Musicology from Claremont Graduate School. She is considered an expert in the field of saxophone pedagogy with an emphasis on traditional and classical performance techniques and proper interfacing on traditional mouthpieces to individual performance situations. Dr. Huff has studied saxophone with Dr. James Mooney, Dr. Anthony (Tony) Desiderio, and Dr. James Rötter.
On her principal instrument, saxophone, Dr. Huff has performed with numerous bands and orchestras throughout California. This includes performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Orange County Symphony, Claremont Symphony, Symphonic Winds of the Pacific, La Jolla Symphony, Orange County Symphonic Winds, Orange County Symphonic Pops, Golden State Pop Orchestra, Southern California Philharmonic, Professional Christian Wind Ensemble, Fullerton College Community Band, San Diego Symphony, Rio Hondo Symphony, Asia American Symphony, Saddleback Pops, Riverside Symphony Orchestra, Redlands Symphony, Sierra Saxophone Quartet, and the Pacific Saxophone Quartet. Her discography includes A New Dawn with the Symphonic Winds of the Pacific, Festival with the Claremont Symphonic Winds, Rejoiussance with the Professional Christian Wind Ensemble, An Evening With Friends, and An Evening of Magic as a soloist.
Dr. Huff is still in demand as a performer, clinician, and instructor to all levels of saxophone and music education. She is currently Principal Saxophone with the West Hawai‘i County Band and the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra.
